AC Condenser

The AC Condenser is a vital part of keeping your AC system cool. The Condenser looks a lot like your radiator and functions basically the same way. As your ac system compresses and pumps Freon through the system into the evaporator core, the Freon will actually pull heat from the cabin and carry it back to the ac condenser to be cooled. The condenser is made up of winding aluminum coils that the Freon travels through. The condenser will usually have some kind of electric cooling fan attached to it that will either push or pull air through the aluminum coils.

If a condenser becomes clogged it can greatly decrease the cooling efficiency of your AC system. If road debris gets clogged up in the fins and coils of the condenser then the fans won't be able to push/pull air through it efficiently. Also if the condenser begins to leak, Freon this can cause the system to not work or to not cool. Leaking Freon can mean leaking the oil out of your system witch would shorten the life of your AC Compressor.

If you can't physically see the condenser clogged, damaged or leaking, then the only real way to tell if the Condenser is clogged or leaking is to have your AC system pressure tested by a licensed mechanic that has the machine to do it.

Buying a Replacement

Used - Buying a used condensor is a great way to save some money. Buying a used one gets you an OEM quality part at a fraction of the price. Used AC Condensers may have some bent fins on them, this is normal and completely ok. They'll still work great, just make sure theres no serious dents in coils or anything. Check out our store to get a great used ac condesner with our standard 6 month guarantee.

Remanufactured - Buying a Reman Condenser is another great way to replace you old broken one. The downside is price when compared to a used OEM part. Condensers can be very expensive at your local parts store. Since theres really no moving parts, a warranty or guarantee on a new one really isn't needed when buying a reman.

New OEM - As always buying from a dealership should be your last choice or your only choice if your still under warranty. You can save so much money buying a used or reman condenser that buying it new from the dealer just really doesn't make sense.
